I am currently studying a FdA Floristry Design course at Bishop Burton College. This blog is to show my progress and acheivements throughout my training.
Starting Out
From leaving school until I had my first child, my working life had always been in an office. From being a Secretary in a Freight Forwarding company to a Customer Services Assitant at BMB Menswear, despatching stock nationally and internationally.
Middle Ground
After having my two wonderful children, I felt that I needed a hobby or trade that could work round my personal life and fit in with the childrens time table. So I started attending a local Floral Arrangement class, every two weeks, just as a taster to see if I would enjoy it.
Well, that was it! I had the bug......
The present and the Future
So I starting looking in to a floristry course at Bishop Burton Colleg and I am now in my second year. I have an evening job at a supermarket and I also work at a local florist one day a week, and enjoying every minute.
This is only the start for me, I take each day, week and month as it come. I am unsure of what route in the industry that I want to persue, but I am sure it will all fall in to place eventually. In the meantime I just want to enjoy working and playing with flowers and concentrate fully on my course.
Who knows what the future holds!
Update.....
So in my second year at college I started working in my local florists, All Occasions of Howden, which I love! I work with a great set of people and my boss is brilliant. I love every aspect of my job from everyday bouquets to weddings, corsage work and funerals.
I hope to have a long career in floristry and working for All Occasions of Howden, and in the meantime.......
